Bayern and BVB tickets without membership: how to get into the stadium

The Allianz Arena in Munich has sold out virtually every Bundesliga home match since 2005. In Dortmund, Signal Iduna Park holds 81,365 spectators – around 55,000 of them season-ticket holders. A large share of seats is therefore taken before general sale even begins. The few tickets on open sale for popular matches are often gone within minutes, and are frequently given to club members first.

No – a membership isn't mandatory. Without one, however, your chances on general sale are much lower, especially for attractive fixtures: according to its own membership FAQ, Bayern Munich gives members priority when allocating tickets – but with around 400,000 members it cannot guarantee tickets even to them. That leaves little for non-members on general sale. If you want a guaranteed place in the stadium without chasing tickets, book a trip with the match ticket included. Your seat is then guaranteed – no membership, waiting list or ballot required.
